Born and raised in NYC painting has always been a very important part of my life. As a young child I began my studies at the Brooklyn Museum and Pratt Institute.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Design from the University of Michigan and a Masters Degree in Art Education from Brooklyn College. I have also studied painting and design at the University of Hawaii and Long Island University.
I am presently retired from the NYC school system after teaching elementary and junior school art for many years.
After making the move from Brooklyn to here on Long Island I have found the difference in my surroundings inspiring. I have become, in the last fourteen years, a full time artist, painting from my studio in Nesconset. I feel very fortunate that now I have the time to devote many hours to my work.
My paintings, which have been displayed in many galleries and arts council shows on Long Island, I believe are powerful expressions of the beauty of my surroundings, close-up and boldly colorful. I try to fill them with the tremendous joy I feel being able to witness this splendor in the gardens and fields of Long Island.
My goal is to draw from this beauty and present it in such a way that when they are viewed – they take your breath away.
