Life is mysterious and complex. Life tells us there is always much richer content beneath an obvious surface reality. My mission has always been to confront a viewer with an unexpected vision that hopefully breaks us out of this world and nudges us with questions of the unknown. Although I’ve loved art is many forms, my “thing” has always been photographic based art – but more recently, my visual interest has increasingly turned away from recording the physicality of objects with the camera and instead pointed toward ever more abstract or imaginary imagery. This work started as simple Black and White paper cutouts, arranged, and re-arranged, photographed, then extensively merged with other photographic imagery. Whether the final imagery seems relevant to the worldly concerns of today will only be known to the individual viewer, but for me, art often speaks in a more universal language that can transcend our literal hopes, fears, and even time itself.
