Since 2009, I have been exclusively making ink drawings. Drawing is the means that I use to examine the alarming continuum of Art and destruction. My drawing encompasses the questioning of the commemorative with the homage, indicative of omens and elegies, and which attempts to visualise the disappeared and the erased. The destruction of Art caused by cultural atrocities lingers like a long shadow in modernist history. The dark shadows in my drawings mediate between cancellation, and an unsettling entente with the barely discernible. In terms of appearance, what is instant and immediately visible, seems untrustworthy- -not unlike the apparatus of power in repressive regimes. By examining the empty spaces left behind after confiscations and annihilation, I engage with the space in each drawing, between what is visible and what is absent
